The San Francisco music scene of the late '70s and early 1980s offered more than stripped-down, elemental punk rock. Even the influence of reggae --which originated a decade earlier three thousand miles to the southeast in Jamaica -- found its way into the musical mix. Among San Francisco's most significant reggae-flavored acts of the period were The Offs.

Disturbing the Peace's chapter on The Offs is based upon interviews with 415 Records founders Howie Klein and Chris Knab.
